The Newport Wedge U-11 girls lacrosse team earned an Orange County Lacrosse Association championship this weekend. Fourth-year head coach Annie Weber and the 22 young ladies who make up the team defeated the Tustin Tigers 8-6 in the championship game. The Wedge finished the regular season with a record of 8 wins and 2 losses. Both of those losses were at the hands of the Tustin Tigers. The third time turned out to be the charm for Wedge when they defeated the Tigers in the championship game.
Newport Wedge Girls Lacrosse has been providing girls ranging in age from kindergarten to 8th grade the opportunity to fall in love with lacrosse for 10 years. Players of all skill levels are welcome to Newport Wedge. Beginner players are provided individual attention so they may join competitive rosters. Skilled players are challenged with high level game strategies, stick skills & becoming a leader in the age group both on and off the field.
