Foothill High School is ranked No. 3 and Corona del Mar is ranked No. 7 in the Week 1 Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse Regional Experts Poll. Foothill moved up from the No. 5 spot. CdM was not ranked in the pre-season poll. St. Margaret’s (n0. 4 in the pre-season rankings) dropped out of the top 10 after starting the season 1-2 with losses coming at the hands of Loyola and Foothill.
The rankings set the stage for two marquee games to end the week. CdM hosts No. 10 Brighton (UT) on Friday. Foothill hosts Brighton on Saturday.
The Knights were 3-0 at the time the poll was released with victories over Oak Park, St. Margaret’s, and Los Alamitos. They defeated Loyola last night to improve to 4-0. The Sea Kings were not ranked in the pre-season poll and had not started their season when the poll was released. They defeated El Toro 19-5 last night to start the season.
St. Ignatius (2-1) lost to Monte Vista/Danville, paving the way for Cherry Creek and Regis Jesuit to move into the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively. St. I dropped from No. 1 to No. 3. Torrey Pines (1-0) rounded out the top 5 moving up from No. 6 to No. 5.
