Yorba Linda High School midfielder Ryan Viadero was invited to try out for the Spanish National lacrosse team and impressed coach Brian Potter enough to earn a spot on the 2014 Spanish national team.
Viadero, an uncommitted senior, is team captain and all-time point leader for the Mustangs. He led Yorba Linda to its first undefeated league title this past season. Ryan returned from Madrid this week as the newest member of the team that will represent Spain at next summer’s FIL World Lacrosse Championships that will be held in Denver, Colo., July 10-19, 2014.
Viadero is the second Orange County player to earn a roster spot to compete in Denver. He joins goalie Trevor Jackson of Huntington Beach who will be playing for team Scotland.
