Woodbridge defeated Irvine High School 11-3 on Wednesday to improve to 2-0 in Pacific Coast League play. The win created a three-way tie between the Warriors, Northwood, and Beckman in the PCL, and set up a game with Northwood on Monday that will help break the early-season tie.
Although the Warriors were led by five points (1g, 4a) from senior Zac Jacobs and a hat trick from junior Parker Haw, the scoring load was well distributed. Junior Brent Buckland chipped in with two goals, while sophomore Matt Chung (1g, 1a), junior Carson Albin (1g), senior Brendan Satchfield (1g, 1a), senior Hunter Johnson (1g), junior Cullen Darius (1g), and freshman Nick Krolokowski (1g, 1a) all added single goals.
Goalie James Nakano, aided by strong performances from defenders Jake Henderson and Junior Brad Walsh, made 9 saves for the Warriors to help keep the Vaqueros at a safe distance. Haw helped Woodbridge win the possession battles with a strong performance at the faceoff X.
Next up. Woodbridge (2-0; 3-3) continues to battle in the PCL trenches with a game against Northwood (2-0; 9-1) on Monday, March 27. Irvine (1-2, 4-4) plays Beckman (2-0; 4-2) on Monday in another PCL matchup.
