Woodbridge Dominates University 17-7

woodbridge.jpegWoodbridge broke open a 2-2 tie with seven goals in the second quarter to set the tone for a 17-7 win over University in the league opener. The floodgates opened with the seven goal outburst in the second quarter and they stayed opened for the second half with Woodbridge scoring six more in the third and the final two in the fourth. Eleven different players tallied in the scoring for the Warrriors including freshman Zac Jacobs (2 goals) and Zach Kennedy (1 goal) who scored their first goals of the season, and senior John Belz who picked up his first point of the year with an assist.

The defensive unit of John Schiazzano, Ryan Francis, Sean Leavey, and Liam McCarty played effectively throughout the game and kept the pressure off the goaltending tandem of Dom Budetti and Mikel Hood . Hood made some sparkling saves in his relief effort. Wodbridge also dominated at the face-off X, winning 16 of 24.
