Wheat Ridge (CO) Catches Foothill

After being held to a total of seven goals in their last two games, Foothill’s offense seemed to find their rhythm by busting out to a 4-0 first quarter lead on Monday against Wheat Ridge (CO). Unfortunately, that would be more goals than the Knights could muster in the final three-quarters as they dropped a 9-7 decision to the Farmers.

The loss extended Foothill’s losing streak to three games (their longest since 2012) and continued the struggles OC teams have faced against out of town competition this season. The top five are now a combined 2-10 against teams from beyond the Orange Curtain.

Ellis Geis was the leading scorer for Foothill with four goals. Josh Fox, Cole Falbo, and Ryan Foy all tallied once to round out the scoring.  Tony Delcrognale handed out an assist to go along with his five groundballs.  Austin Mann and Ethan Sepulveda combined for 11 saves.

Next up: No.2 Foothill will try to snap their losing streak against No. 4 Santa Margarita on Wednesday in a game that could shake up next week’s coaches poll. Wheat Ridge continues their Southern California visit with games against Pacific Ridge on Wednesday and Santa Margarita on Friday.
