The Westview Wolverines bested the visiting Aspen Skiers 7-1 in a non-conference game this past Monday night at home to improve their season record to 5-1. The game got off to a slow start with little scoring out of the gate, as each team’s defense was able to keep it close into the 3rd quarter when the score was 3-1 in favor of Westview. However, Westview’s offense continued to add to its lead and extended its distance by thwarting the Skiers’ offensive efforts thereafter. Pictured above is #9 junior attackman Cole Zarola sneaking one past the Skiers in the 4th quarter.

Standouts for the Wolverines included: TJ Summers (1G, 3A), Cole Zarola (3G), Taylor Chappell (2A), Ryan Marasco (1G, 7GB), Zach Hansen (7 GB) and Connor Ciemiewicz (9 saves)

The Wolverines host both the Del Norte Nighthawks tonight and the Rancho Bernardo Broncos this Wednesday in key conference match-ups. The Nighthawks will come into Westview with a 5-3 record, having been edged in their last 3 contests by a combined total margin of only 7 points. The Nighthawks also have a conference game scheduled against the Poway Titans this Wednesday. The Broncos have been involved in 3 straight nail-biting overtime contests, coming out on top against the La Jolla Vikings 6-5, but falling short against both the Pacific Ridge Firebirds 7-6 and Scripps Ranch Falcons 14-13. The Broncos host the Mount Carmel Sundevils tonight before traveling to Westview on Wednesday. After matching up against the Broncos, the Sundevils will host the Fallbrook Warriors this Wednesday night at Mount Carmel.
