West Ranch girls lacrosse, an LA semifinalist last season and a likely Top 10 team this season, won its season opener Monday, defeating host Thousand Oaks 14-8. West Ranch led 7-4 at halftime and won the second half by the same margin.
Junior attacker Bella Gervasi led the Wildcats with six goals, and senior midfielder Hope Jin scored five. Gabriella Banuelos, Maddy Spell and Julia Serrano each scored once.
Last spring, West Ranch lost to Agoura 15-13 in the semifinals of the LA Championship Tournament to finish 14-4. The teams meet again Thursday at Agoura.
