Week 6 Boys’ Lacrosse Top 20

The Week 6 Coaches Poll has been released, and while not identical to last week’s poll, not much changed. St. Margaret’s and J Serra swapped positions following the Lions’ loss to the Tartans on Saturday. Everyone else stood firm.

Foothill still clings to the No. 1 spot with an average rating of 1.39. Right behind the Knights are the Corona del Mar Seak Kings (1.64). No. 3 St. Margaret’s (3.46) and No. 4 J Serra (3.68) are also neck and neck. Santa Margarita stands alone in fifth place.  Things get particularly interesting from 6 to 8 where 0.57 points separates No. 6 San Clemente, No. 7 Great Oak and No. 8 Trabuco Hills. San Clemente has the greatest strength of schedule of the three but the worst record. Trabuco has the best record but the lowest SOS. Great Oak plays San Clemente on Tuesday and Trabuco on Friday, giving the Wolfpack an opportunity to create some separation.

No. 12 Newport Harbor defeated No. 11 Los Al last week but that was not enough to push the Sailors past the Griffins in the poll.  Assuming the playoffs selection committee will agree with the polls, four teams are currently sitting on the playoffs bubble: 1.57 points separates No. 14 Beckman from No. 17 Servite. The selection committee will choose 16 teams.
