Mackenzie Wallevand (Mater Dei ’17) has transferred from Fresno State to the University of Denver.

“I chose University of Denver because of how amazing the location is and the surrounding area, the strong academics that the school provides and the lacrosse program is one of the best in the nation,” Wallevand said on DenverPioneers.com. “I love knowing that the team is more like a family than anything else.”

The Pios get a player who has proven she can excel at the D1 level and help out in all aspects of the game.  Wallevand was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Rookie of the Year and was named to the All MPSF Team.  She finished her freshman campaign with 19 goals, 10 assists, 29 points, and 47 shots. She also grabbed 51 draw controls, 15 ground balls, and caused 26 turnovers.

Denver finished 13-7 overall and 6-3 in the Big East Conference last season.  The Pios reached the Big East Championship game and the second round of the NCAA playoffs last season.
