Fresno State freshman midfielder Mackenzie Wallevand (Mater Dei ’17) was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Rookie of the week last week. Wallevand had two goals, two assists, two ground balls, three draw controls and a caused turnover against La Salle (Feb. 9) and Binghamton (Feb. 11) in the first week of her college career.
Wallevand was a four-year varsity midfielder at Mater Dei where she helped lead the Monarchs to the 2016 and 2017 Southern Section Championships. She was a 2015 and 2016 Under Armour All-American, a 2016 High School All-American, and two-time First Team All-County. She was named Mater Dei Offensive Player of the Year and was the school’s Female Athlete of the Year following her senior campaign.
