Fresno State freshman midfielder Mackenzie Wallevand (Mater Dei ’17) was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Rookie of the week for games played Feb. 26 through March 4. It was the second time that Wallevand has picked up the honor.
Wallevand helped the Bulldogs to a 19-7 win over St. Bonaventure with two goals, one assist, three points four draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover. She is second on the Bulldogs in assists with four, third in points with 12 and fourth in goals with eight.
Wallevand was a four-year varsity midfielder at Mater Dei where she helped lead the Monarchs to the 2016 and 2017 Southern Section Championships. She was a 2015 and 2016 Under Armour All-American, a 2016 High School All-American, and two-time First Team All-County. She was named Mater Dei Offensive Player of the Year and was the school’s Female Athlete of the Year following her senior campaign.
