Victory Lacrosse is holding a hair drive for the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Program at Sanctuary Salon by Cha in San Clemente tomorrow (Thursday July 17) from 1:00 pm -3:00 pm. So far 11 gracious lady laxers including Coach Holly Reilly are ponying up their locks so that they can be used as wigs for cancer patients. Coach Reilly donated her hair yesterday and reports that in addition to the five girls she expects to pony up tomorrow, two donated a month ago, and three more will make the cut when they return from vacation. Coach Reilly is proud of Victory’s involvement with such a meaningful cause, saying “The Victory players and coaches donating hair to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths Program are doing so to make a positive impact, and it is inspiring to see these young women choose to make a difference in a meaningful and personal way. I think this event is special because it encourages young people to think about the needs of others and approach their life with a sense of gratitude.”
Beautiful Lengths is a partnership between Pantene® and the American Cancer Society®, the largest nonprofit health organization committed to saving lives from every cancer and improving the quality of life for people facing the disease. The role of Pantene is to help women grow long, strong*, beautiful hair and provide the funds to turn this hair into free, real-hair wigs for women with cancer. So far, Pantene has donated 24,000 free real-hair wigs to the American Cancer Society’s wig banks, which distribute wigs to cancer patients across the country. To see if you are eligible to receive a free wig or if there are wigs available in your area, please call the American Cancer Society’s Wig Bank Line at 1-877-227-1596.
Each lady laxer who ponies up will receive lunch and a free skills session from Coach Reilly, a Team USA player. If you or someone you know is interested in donating, you must have 8 inches of hair to offer, with no dyes, bleaches, or chemicals.
