Corona Del Mar junior standout Ty Caffarelli has committed to study and play Division 1 boys lacrosse at Monmouth University.
“Monmouth is a great place, it’s on the East Coast of New Jersey. I really want to go there and it’s a great place for me,” Caffarelli said. Cafferelli said he was also taken in by Monmouth’s business program.
Caffarelli has taken full advantage of his varsity game experience to show that he has the makings of a prolific goal scorer. He had five goals in the two games in last year’s pandemic-shortened season and 15 goals in five games played as a freshman.
Cafarelli maintained a busy offseason schedule during the pandemic with weight lifting, shooting drills and playing club lacrosse with Mad Dog.
“He’s an incredibly hard working kid, he’s dedicated himself to his craft, and he’s a really good goal scorer. He finishes the ball well and he’s got great hands lefty and righty, but he’s just worked extremely hard to be able to have that opportunity to play in college and I think he’s found the right spot for sure,” Sea Kings coach G.W. Mix said.
“I’d like to thank all my coaches, my parents and my friends for supporting me,” Caffarelli said.
Last year, Monmouth went 2-4 before the pandemic shut down the entire season.
