Tritons Tame Cougars

The San Clemente Tritons lacrosse team visited the Capo Valley Cougars Tuesday night in a South Coast League matchup.

The Cougars (3-11) had upset on their minds, with aggressive play right from the start. The game was close through the first period, with the Tritons up, 4-3. Goalie Jordan Wanger kept the Cougars close, with five saves in the first.

SC (8-8) asserted control in the second, with four unanswered goals. By halftime, The Tritons led 11-6.

The San Clemente scoring barrage continued through the second half. Final score SC 20, Capo Valley 9.

Eleven different Tritons scored. Garrett Eslick led the way with 4 goals. Matt Keany (3G), Branden Wilson (3G), Eric Zoe (2G), Austin Nix (2G), Nick Lemus (1G, 4 assists) and Jack Renard (1G, 1A) also lit up the scoreboard. David Howren, Sander Lush, Josh Ortiz and Max Lepley also scored. Lepley and Lemus came up with 3 ground balls each. Omeed Farhadi, Caleb Bozarth and Keany picked up two GBs apiece.

The Cougars were led by Sam Slobom with 5 goals, Cameron Lopez (3G, 1A) and Justin Burk (1G, 5GBs).

SC hosts Tesoro to close out the league season this Friday night. Capo Valley hosts Aliso Niguel on Friday.
