Tritons’ Self, Kassity Headed to Whittier

San Clemente seniors Aaron Self and Jonathan “Jay” Kassity have both announced they will be playing at Whittier College next season.

The Poets play Division III lacrosse and are part of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The team finished 7-6 last season and are coached by Brian Kelly.

Self and Kassity, who were both captains for Coach Glen Miles at San Clemente High (San Clemente, Calif.) this past season, were key members of the team that advanced to the US Lacrosse Orange County championship game before losing to unbeaten Corona del Mar.

Self earned All-America honors to go along with his first-team All-Orange County and first-team All-South Coast League honors. He scored 24 goals and 12 assists while leading the team in ground balls (98) and faceoff wins (231 wins, 127 losses).

Kassity was named second-team All-South Coast League after notching 51 goals and 41 assists for the high-powered Tritons.
