Tritons Impress at SB Tourney

The San Clemente High School varsity lacrosse team came in second place in the High School Elite Division at the Santa Barbara Showdown Oct. 17-18. They lost 8-7 in the finals to a talented Bunch Nation Elite team (related story on MaxLaxOC.com). The final game lived up to the hype as San Clemente was looking to rebound from the loss earlier in the day. San Clemente started fast and jumped to a quick lead but the Bunch Nation took SC’s best shot and regained the lead late in the first half and never relinquished it. San Clemente made it close with a couple of late goals, and if not for a few piped shots it could have been even closer.

“Our boys played very hard this weekend against some really good teams,” stated SC head coach Brad Reppert. “I was pleased with our effort and the opportunity it allowed us to have some of our younger players compete against quality players. The event was very well run and it’s an awesome place to come play.”

San Clemente stared out 3-0 after the first day of play defeating Gaucho Select 2017, Gaucho Select 2016 and Tune Squad Elite. The next day the Tritons lost to Bunch Nation and Black Cat (made up from players from LA & powerhouse Peninsula High School) and advanced to the finals based on goals scored/fewest goals allowed.
