Stops 20 Shots, Saves

Senior goalie , a four-year starter for the Trailblazers, recorded 20 saves Thursday as visiting No. 13 held off a fierce challenge from No. 16 to win 8-6.

Sierra Canyon took a 3-2 lead after one quarter, led 5-3 at halftime and 6-5 entering the fourth quarter. Through it all, Clark kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard. Trailblazers coach said Clark had 19 saves in a 7-6 win over Crespi and 13 in a 6-5 overtime win over Peninsula.

“The kid is crazy good,” Waibel said via text message. “He had 27 or something close to that vs. Loyola in the playoffs last year. Kid is a beast.”

Without him, Sierra Canyon probably wouldn’t be 4-0 at this stage. After scoring 20 goals in an opening win over Malibu, the Trailblazers have totaled only 21 in their next three games.

(1-3) plays host to Palisades on Saturday. Sierra Canyon plays at Viewpoint.
