The Torrey Pines High School boys’ lacrosse team will begin their quest for a third consecutive CIF San Diego Section Open Championship and third consecutive Top 20 National ranking with nine seniors and one junior committed to NCAA Division 1 programs.
The nine seniors are shown above in a signing day ceremony with the coaching staff. Back row from left to right: assistant coach Brian Winterfeldt, assistant coach Dave O’Neil, Bobby Gavin (UVA), CJ Iglinski, (St Johns’s), Conrad Delgado (Notre Dame), Christian Rassmussen (Brown), Miles Botkiss (Harvard), Blake Erlbeck (Syracuse), head coach Jono Zissi. Front row from left to right: Ethan Graubart (Bellarmine), Dane Degoler (Boston University), and Teagan Bultman (Brown). Junior Dewey Egan is committed to North Carolina.
At least two of the Falcons are committed to following in the footsteps of older brothers. Beau Botkiss, older brother of Miles, is a senior at Harvard. Dewey Egan has two older brothers in the D1 ranks. Evan Egan is a sophomore at North Carolina and Brendan Egan is a junior at Bucknell.
Torrey Pines won the CIF San Diego Section championship in 2018 and 2019. Their combined record over that two year stretch while playing against a national schedule was 38-3. The Falcons have not lost to a Southern California team since Coronado topped them 6-4 in the 2017 CIF semi-finals. They were ranked no. 20 and no. 17, respectively in the Final Under Armour/IL Top 25 High School Power Rankings for those two years, the only California team to make the Top 25.
