Ania Brown, Oak Park

Morgan Shorts and Ania Brown scored five goals each Tuesday, leading host Oak Park, the No. 1 seed in the North half of the L.A. bracket, to an 18-3 first-round playoff win over No. 8 Simi Valley (8-5).

Redondo Union (15-1), the No. 1 seed in the South half of the bracket, opened with 15-4 win over Santa Monica. The Sea Hawks’ only loss this season came April 1 against Oak Park.

The Eagles (15-4) are seeking their third consecutive trip to the US Lacrosse L.A. title game. Last year, Oak Park lost to Agoura in the championship, falling 20-19 in overtime. Last year’s Eagles finished 18-3, with all three losses to the Chargers by a combined five goals.

Tuesday, Oak Park took its first step toward the title game with a dominating performance. In all, 10 Eagles players tallied points Tuesday, with Julia Gilliam (3g, 2a) and Shayne Costello (2g, 2a) also contributing multiple goals. The Oak Park defense was led by Lauren Welin and Rachel Pham.

Oak Park advances to Thursday’s quarterfinals where they will play host to neighboring , which defeated Agoura 8-7 on Tuesday.
