Tesoro’s Spooner Commits to Westminster College

Tesoro High School faceoff middie has verbally committed to play Division I lacrosse for the Westminster College Griffins.

Spooner, a rising senior, is a two-year starter for the Tesoro Titans and also plays club lacrosse for Brady’s Bunch regional and national team. He has been a top performer at the X spot and ended the 2015 season with a 61% win percentage, 21 goals, 19 assist and 81 GBs. Cole says “I made the decision to play lacrosse at Westminster due to the education and location of the school, and feeling of a tight knit family with players and coaches. I am looking forward to helping Westminster compete at the highest levels”.

Tesoro’s Coach Adam Miner says “Cole has been a tremendous asset to Tesoro. After his Freshman year, Cole took the initiative to focus on an area that could immediately help the team. He developed an expertise at the faceoff X and immediately improved our program entering his sophomore year.”

“He had a tremendous year and led our team in groundballs, keeping us in a lot of games against some of the best competition in the County. As a Junior, Cole has developed his game to become a more dynamic offensive threat. He is a player we turn to often to create offense or manage the game through possessions”

The Griffins currently compete in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference with future plans to join the NCAA Division II Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. They made their way to the MCLA DI National Championship Tournament Selection in 2014 and 2015.
