Tesoro and Huntington Beach continued a game Wednesday night that was originally played on February 29. The February 29 was actually played to completion and HB outscored Tesoro 6-5 in four overtimes that evening. However, Tesoro placed the game under protest, and league officials ruled in Tesoro’s favor that two incorrect rulings by game referees during the Feb. 29 game between Tesoro and Huntington Beach affected the outcome of the game. As a result of the ruling, league officials determined that the game be continued from the point of the first incorrect referee call.
Tesoro and HB picked up the game on Wednesday night with approximately three minutes left in the first half, the Oilers leading 3-0, and the Titans with a two minute non-releasable EMO as the HB goalie sat out a penalty. Tesoro scored two goals on the man up to make it 3 to 2 at the half. Tesoro evened that score at 3 to 3 early in the second half. HB scored two quick goals before Tesoro answered back with two of their own to take the game into overtime. Jake Douglas scored the game winner in OT.
The win was Tesoro’s ninth straight and improved their record to 10-2 for the season. The Oilers fall to 7-7.
