Devin Arkison of LockdownD.com was out and about at the Tinseltown Throwdown at the Irvine Great Park this weekend. His observations are as follows:
Mitchie Myers of Leverage went beast mode and dominated at X. 2019 FOGO looked like the real deal taking the majority of draws with ease. Played some offense as well. Poised to help St. John Bosco with a big 2018 season. Big boy can play!
The Angel City dee combo of Hayden Rodenbeck (pictured above) and Jack Seals look like one of the best tandems in OC. The 2018s will return for Servite and not only dee up but also can push transition for Coach O’Leary. Roderick was 3-2 for the weekend and Seals went 1-1, both played close, big numbers.
Another Angels City player who lit it up was 2020 attackman Jack Terones. He had seven goals and two assists in the two games I watched. Was great off ball with catch and shoot, putting it away. The ball doesn’t have to be in his stick long for results, off ball and transition ball movement was out standing.
The SC Sharks had a very good dee combo as well. Dylan Hartanov and Nick Amico were very active on the ball getting on the hands and tough in transition. This 2019 combo is ready to roll in 2018 for Coach Finn and the Tritons.
New comer Trevor Krause 2021 played with the big boys for Mustangs Club. Big jump from U15 to the varsity division and he impressed covering juniors and seniors much of the weekend. Got some tough ground balls, and sparked transition with sharp passing. Teamate Ash Matthews showed he can cover and run transition all weekend. He’ll anchor the Yorba Linda defense in 2018.
Middie Evan Curry 2023 was all over the field for Johnny Rodriguez’s Buku club. Kid has a serious motor, very nice stick skills, excellent field sense. Curry had 10 goals over the weekend. He’s one to watch, looks like he’ll be a player. Teammate and fellow 2023 Nick Banning used tough poke check and very nice handle to have a good weekend as well, one to keep an eye on….
