Former San Clemente defenseman Stone Sims and former Los Alamitos attack Steve Brandenburg received preseason All-American recognition in the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook. Sims, a junior at Albany, earned Division 1 Third Team All-American status. Brandenburg, a senior at , is a preseason Division 2 Third Team All American.

Il reports that Sims (16GB, 16CT) returns as the no. 1 cover defender for the 13th ranked Danes.  “He has the ability to take an attackman completely out of the game,” head coach Scott Marr told IL.

Brandenburg led the Mavericks with 58 points in  2016 (46 goals and 12 assists).  The reigning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Champions ended last season with a 13-4 record.
