St. Margaret’s Overpowers El Toro

At the end of the first quarter it appeared that the first upset of the 2015 boys’ lacrosse playoffs might be in the making.   No. 14 El Toro, led by goals from Clay GilmourMick Skeffington, and Jared Vlach was tied 3-3 with  No. 13 St. Margaret’s at the end  of the first quarter.  The Chargers continued to find success in the second quarter with goals from Vlach, Skeffington, and Parker Core, but could not keep pace with the Tartans.    Big bro Ryan Harnisch (21 faceoff wins) and younger bro Sam Harnisch each scored three goals in the second stanza to open up a 10-6 St. Margaret’s halftime lead.
The Tartans outscored the Chargers 9-3 in the second half to move into the next round with a 19-9 victory.  Freshman Andy Shin and Blaine Nelson each scored their first playoff goals in the fourth quarter.

El Toro finishes 2015 with an 11-7 record.  St. Margaret’s hosts Trabuco Hills for the second time this year on Thursday.
