The St. John Bosco Braves remained undefeated and improved to 10-0 Saturday, with a 13-5 win over then-No. 12 , their first win over a playoff contender this season. They were rewarded by voters in the MaxLaxLA by moving up a spot to No. 10.

Bosco, which won the US Lacrosse Postseason Invitational last season, opened this season at No. 14 in the preseason coaches poll and had advanced only to No. 11 before Saturday’s win. With three more games against opponents, the Braves have a few more opportunities to prove they deserve to move up even more.

Palos Verdes remained a unanimous No. 1 in the voting, receiving all 32 first-place votes cast. Harvard Westlake and Loyola each moved up a spot, as Oaks Christian dropped from No. 2 to No. 4 after losing to Westlake. The Warriors moved up one spot to No. 5 after that win and despite a loss to Loyola.

Below is the complete MaxLax Coaches Poll Top 25. As a reminder, 24 teams will receive invitations to the postseason, 16 to the Championship Tournament and eight to the Invitational Tournament. Playoff invitations and seedings will be determined by a coaches committee on April 28, with the Championship Tournament set to begin Tues., April 30, and the Invitational Tournament set to open Weds., May 1.

  1. Can someone please tell me how Santa Monica is ranked higher than Culver City? When you check the schedule Culver City beat Samo 18-6.

    • It’s a great question for the 32 coaches who voted this week. Two voters had the Vikings ranked has high as No. 20, while two others had them at 21 and 22. Culver City was listed in the Top 25 on only three ballots, one each at 21, 23 and 24.

We should have a fresh LA power ranking update later tonight or in the morning, and that might shed some light on what the math says about both programs, including their strength of schedule.
