Previously unbeaten St. Margaret’s traveled this week to San Francisco and faced three very difficult foes in St. Ignatius, Brophy Prep (Ariz.) and Redwood. On Saturday morning, the Tartans scored an important 14-10 win over Redwood (9-4) to ensure they didn’t leave the Bay Area empty handed after suffering narrow losses the prior two days against St. Ignatius (7-2) and Brophy Prep (9-3).
With the win over Redwood, the Tartans improve to 6-2 on the season.
On Thursday, St. Margaret’s opened the road trip against perennial West Coast power St. Ignatius and their road trip rust showed early as they fell behind to the Wildcats, 9-0. But Glen Miles’ team wasn’t about to go quietly, and the Tartans rallied before succumbing 11-9.
On Friday, the Tartans faced off against Brophy Prep, the No. 2 ranked team in Arizona. The young Tartans battled to an 11-10 loss in overtime.
Playing an early morning game on Saturday, St. Margaret’s stormed to a 5-3 first half lead then pulled away from Redwood to secure the 14-10 win.
The Tartans next face Los Alamitos on April 9.
