SoCal Girls Lacrosse Hires New Director Jenna Porter

SoCal Logo 1 SoCal Lacrosse named Jenna Porter as their new Director of Girls Lacrosse this past week. The hiring of Jenna follows the explosion that girls lacrose as seen in Orange County.

Girl’s lacrosse has grown tremendously in South Orange County and they have helped lead the way for hundreds of girls living in the area. The time is now to raise the bar, and they have!

“Jenna Porter was born in Rochester NY where she began her lacrosse career at a very young age. At East Rochester High School, Jenna split time between the midfield and as a goaltender. In doing so she helped her team reach the state championship multiple times where they unfortunately came up short. During her free time, she could be found refereeing and coaching local youth teams. She went on to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Connecticut where she studied Human Development and Family Studies with a focus in early childhood. For the last several years Jenna and her husband, Brendan Porter, have both coached with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Lacrosse National High School teams (FCA is a national organization based in Baltimore, MD) at the Vail Shootout tournament held every June. Jenna is an extremely accomplished coach, and we are thrilled to have her!”

In addition to adding Jenna Porter they have decided to establish a curriculum for both coaches and players. What this means for players is that they have consistent instruction regardless of what age level they play at and that they learn the game the way it was meant to be played and how to play to win.

“For coaches, it means consistency and invaluable drills, sample practices and the most effective use of their time while working with your daughter. Our curriculum was designed by none other than the amazing, Liz “LC” Connelly. LC coached at Los Alamitos High School where they have been Southern Section Champions for 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 -they have won 5 consecutive titles and had a 19-1 record this past spring. We feel very fortunate to have such an accomplished coach with an incredible record and unlimited knowledge designing our curriculum”

They are very close to reaching their maximum for two of the three age divisions. If you have not had a chance to register your daughter, please do so immediately at
