The  SoCal Express 2021 team won the Battle of the Bay yesterday at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Led by head coach Crawford McCarthy, they dominated pool play Saturday going 3-0, and finished with a 7-1 victory over the 2021 Alcatraz Outlaws in the Championship game.

Defense dominated for the Express who shut out all three opponents in pool play and then allowed only five goals in the two playoff games.  The Express defeated Booth 2022 13-0, Outlaws 2022 10-0, and Vegas Starz 2021/22 Red 10-0 in pool play on Saturday.  They then went on to defeat Napa 9-4 in the semi-finals on Sunday to earn their place in the championship game.

The Battle of the Bay is played at the San Francisco Polo Fields in the heart of the City. The fields are walking distance to Ocean Beach in world famous Golden Gate Park. Teams are guaranteed five games. This year’s Battle of the Bay featured the following Divisions:

  • HS Elite    (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 Graduating Years)
  • HS Open    (2017, 2018, 2019 Graduating Years)
  • HS Rise    (2018 and 2019 Graduating Years)
  • U15 Division    (2020 Graduating Year)
  • U13 Division    (2021,2022 Graduating Years)
  • U11 Division   (2023, 2024 Graduating Years)
