1. Chapman University
Last Year: 16-6 (6-0)
Playoff Finish: Lost 10-5 to Arizona State in National Semifinal
After making it to the National semifinals against Southwestern Lacrosse Conference rival Arizona State last season, the Panthers hope to put that home field advantage to good use in the 2015 MCLA Championships.
Although, the defending SLC North champions ten seniors, including six starters to graduation, they have plenty of talented players ready to make an immediate impact and fill the voids. Despite the graduation of stud goalie and captain Warren Nielsen (Lakeridge, OR), Coach Dallas Hartley feels the strength of his team will still be their defense. Led by defenseman Zach Dutra (Monte Vista High School), LSM Brenton Croteau (Westborough, MA), and dual threat middie Chris Herrmann (Denver East, CO) this unit should gel immediately, allowing the younger offense to find their way in the collegiate game. Looking to fill the shoes of Timmy Andrews (La Costa Canyon High School) on the offensive end are junior midfielder Connor Reilley (Thousand Oaks High School) sophomore attackman Regan Kelly (Redwood, CA), and standout freshman attack Dylan Garner (Oregon Episcopal, OR). With Hartley’s uncanny ability to reload rather than rebuild this Chapman squad looks to have the inside leg on repeating as the SLC North champs.
