Siegel commits to Grand Canyon

Edison High School boys lacrosse player Evan Siegel recently announced on Twitter that he has committed to play for MCLA Division 1 powerhouse Grand Canyon University in Phoenix AZ.

“Excited to announce that I have committed to Grand Canyon University to further my education and play Lacrosse,” Siegel said on Twitter.

Siegel, a 5’10 senior midfielder, has scored 62 goals and 89 assists for the Chargers in his varsity career, according to Siegel plays club lacrosse for SoCal Express, where he is coached by St. Margaret’s boys’ lacrosse coach Glen Miles.

“I initially wanted to go to GCU because I have two former teammates that go there Josh Gruwell (2013) and Troy Jacobs (2016). When I went to visit, I instantly wanted to attend school there,” Siegel said in an email.

Grand Canyon finished 12-5 last year and lost to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 10-8 in the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association Division 1 semifinal. GCU won the MCLA Division 1 national championship in 2015, with a 16-1 record.
