Ryan Thomas (1 goal, 5 assists) fulfilled his community service requirements for the semester by handing out 5 assists to his teammates in Thursday’s 9-6 win over Marina. The win snapped a five game Friars’s skid and improved their record to 3-8, while the Vikings fell to 5-8.
Thomas established the theme for the night early by setting up Evan Purpura ( 4 goals) for the first two goals of the game. The Friars built up a first quarter 3-0 lead only to see the Vikings get right back into the game with two unanswered second quarter goals to make it 3-2 at halftime. An unassisted goal from Andreas Armienta (1 goal) made it 3-0 at after on quarter. The Vikings chipped away with unassisted goals by David Arent (3 goals 1 assist) and Sean McCollough (2 goals) to make it 3-2 at the intermission.
Thomas opened the third quarter with an unassisted goal before setting up Nick Prado (1 goal) and Drew Marinelli (1 goal), giving Servite a 6-2 lead entering the final frame. A goal by Michael Seaman (1 goal) and two by Purpura in the fourth quarter completed the Friars’ scoring. The Vikings tried to get back in the game with two fourth quarter goals from Arent and one apiece from McCollough and Nicholas Jones (1 goal), but it was too little, too late.
