Pihl, Satossky Named to MCLA Player of the Year Watch Lists

Orange County teams and players dominated the MCLA news in Inside Lacrosse’s recently released the 2017 Face-Off Yearbook.  Three of the ten players named to the IL MCLA Player of the Year Watch Lists have Orange County connections.  Former Foothill goalie Sean Pihl and Chapman attack Dylan Garner were named to the MCLA Division 1 POTY Watch List.  Former San Clemente attack Max Satossky was named to the MCLA Division 1 POTY Watch List.

Garner, a junior, is the reigning POTY.  The Oregon native led Chapman to the national championship last year with 77 points (47g, 30a).  The writers at IL think Garner may put up 100 points this year.  Garner and his fellow Panthers Chapman will start out the season as the No. 1 team in Division 1.

Pihl is as dominating on the defensive end of the field as Garner is on the offensive end.  He led the Mustangs to the national championship game against Chapman last year with a 64.9 save percentage while holding opponents to just five goals per game.  The Mustangs check in as the preseason no. 2.

Satossky, a senior, made his presence felt at Concordia after transferring from Cabrini.  The former Triton finished the season with 82 points (67g, 15a).  If Satossky can keep it up this season, the Eagles are serious contenders for a Division 2 National Championship.

Concordia is ranked no. 4 in Division 2 behind three Midwest teams (St. Thomas, Grand Valley State and North Dakota State).  They are expected to roll through the regular season before trying to penetrate the Midwest’s dominance of MCLA Division 2.  Teams from the Midwest have won every Division 2 National Championship since 2009.
