Schweickert’s 17 Saves Stifle Mission Viejo

The Beckman Patriots beat the Mission Viejo Diablos 11-2.

The Patriots were led to victory by strong defense.  Tyler Schweickert had an impressive 17 saves between the pipes, while Max Cody won 14 of 17 faceoffs, and grabbed 8 groundballs. The team had 13 forced turn overs on the game.  Scoring was led by Alex Malmlund (4 goals, 3 assists), Alex Watson (4g 1a), Aidan O’Connor (1g 1a), Jake Waltz (1g) and Ryan King (1g).  Justin Cheng had 2 gb and 4 fto, and Justin Norris had 3 gb and 1 fto.

The Patriots can clinch outright a third consecutive Pacific Coast League championship with a victory over Sage Hill on Monday, or on Senior Day against Woodbridge on Thursday.
