Former JSerra standout men’s lacrosse player Jake Schleppy has been named one of D-1 High Point University’s four captains for the 2019 season. Schleppy, a senior midfielder, has battled injuries throughout his collegiate career and enters the campaign having posted 4 goals and 1 assist all during his freshman season. The 6-0, 185-pounder has also earned Millis Scholar Athlete honors in all three of his first years at HPU.
Schleppy is the second former Orange County lacrosse standout to be named captain at HPU. Last year, former San Clemente star Peyton Garrett, who graduated last May, earned that honor for the Panthers.
Schleppy and his Panthers teammates open the 2019 campaign on Feb. 2 hosting St. Bonaventure.
