Wins Twice to Open Play

After going 1-4 to open the season, including two one-goal losses, the No. 18 Vikings found their comfort zone this week, posting back-to-back wins to open play.

Wednesday, Santa Monica (3-4) beat 13-4 behind five goals from and three from freshman Simba Makawa. Sophomore midfielder Spencer Wynn won 11 of 13 face-offs against the Centaurs to keep the ball in the hands of the Vikings offense.

Friday, the Vikings beat 16-8 as James scored five more goals and Wynn won 12 of 16 face-offs.

Santa Monica goalkeepers , a junior, and Evan Minor, a freshman, combined to limit an opponent to single-digit scoring for the fifth time in seven games.
