Santa Margarita Catholic High School snapped a two-game losing streaking by defeating Wheat Ridge, Colorado 12-9 Wednesday night. Sophomore Quentin Buchman scored six goals and senior Logan Dochterman added five points (4g, 1a) to lead the Eagles. Chase Lynch’s dominant 22/24 (92%) faceoff performance was key to the win.
The Farmers appeared to be in control early as they jumped out to an early 4-1 lead. Jack Fisher (2g) scored the lone Santa Margarita goal before Dochterman and Buchman heated up, and reversed the Eagles’ fortunes. Buchman finished the half with five goals and Dochterman scored three to give the Eagles a 9-5 halftime lead. Wheat Ridge got as close as 11-9 in the second half, but Buchman’s sixth goal squashed the Farmers’ comeback hopes and sealed the deal for the Eagles. Eric Rubak led the defense with four caused turnovers and four groundballs.
