Juniors Zach Taylor (4 goals, 3 assists) and Logan Dochterman (4g, 1a) combined for eight goals to lead No. 5 Santa Margarita to 15-6 win over No. 17 Servite on Wednesday. The victory secured second place in the Trinity League for the Eagles (11-5; 3-2), and leaves Servite (6-11; 1-4) one last game to sneak into the playoffs. The two teams close out their season with a rematch on Saturday. If Servite can pull off the upset on Saturday, it may be enough to convince the coaches and the seeding committee to give them the final seed in the playoffs. Santa Margarita has hopes of grabbing the No. 4 seed if they can avoid a letdown.
Seniors Andrew Kofoed (Notre Dame de Namur) and Nico Houser (Wagner) each scored a pair of goals in the final regular season home game. Kofoed also added an assist. Jack Fisher (1g), Bellarmine-commit Eric Rubak (1g, 1a), and Shane Cobb (1g) completed the Santa Margarita scoring. Goalie Aidan Robidoux helped his own cause by dishing out two assists to go along with his 11 saves.
Billy Senecal won 5 faceoffs. CJ Deal recovered a team-leading four groundballs and caused two turnovers. David Fice (3 cto) and Rubak (4 cto) also stood out on defense.
