Seniors Zach Taylor, Logan Dochterman, Eric Rubak, and sophomore Quentin Buchman (from left to right above) have been selected to lead Santa Margarita Catholic High School as captains in 2016.
Head coach Adam Guy had this to say about each of his captains:
Eric Rubak (senior defenseman): “Eric is a returning captain and senior leader for us. He was the Trinity League DOY last season and we are looking for him to lead the guys both on and off the field. Eric brings a great energy to the team that is contagious and we hope can carry over to the season.”
Zach Taylor (senior attack): “Zach is a 3 year starter for us this season and he will be the anchor of a young offensive team. Zach has always been able to stay calm and cool on the field and this year we are looking for him to step into a leadership role and mentor our younger players. I have seen a transformation is Zach’s attitude and work ethic in the past year and he seems hungry and poised to succeed.”
Logan Dochterman (senior midfield): “Logan brings a tremendous amount of experience to our midfielders. He is a 4 year starter, understands our offensive schemes and principals very well. I am looking for him to mentor our younger players in practice while leading by example on and off the playing field.”
Quentin Buchman (sophomore midfield): “Half of our varsity roster consists of freshmen and sophomores, so we are young in some areas. Quentin had a great season last year for us and I am looking for him to mentor some of our younger players and be the conduit between those players and the upperclassmen and myself. I hope that Quentin can learn to lead this team through his actions both on and off the field and develop leadership qualities that can carry over for years to come.”
