MCLA.US announced that C.J. Deal (Santa Margarita ’16), now a junior at Michigan State, was named the MCLA Division I Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending March 31. Deal had a Command-Performance weekend in leading the Spartans to a pair of wins over Indiana (now the home of former Eagles teammate Nicholas Parrino) and No. 10 Virginia Tech at the Clash in Columbus.

Deal, an LSM, wreaked havoc on the opposition with seven caused turnovers and 14 ground balls over the two-game span.

“He’s really stepped up to help lead this defense by letting his play do his talking for him,” Michigan State coach D.J. Lubs told MCLA.us. “C.J. is a tough kid and gritty competitor. That came to light during the monsoon we played in versus Virginia Tech.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Deal will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.
