San Clemente Girls Lacrosse Rolls to Sea View League Crown

The Sea View League girls lacrosse title belongs to San Clemente, who continued their strong play winning three games by nine goals or more.

Last week they hosted Justin Sienna from Napa and Triton juniors and Jessica De Collbus exploded for five goals each in a 18-8 win.  The next victim was El Toro.  Triton sophomore Delainney Illes scored in the first 30 seconds and the Tritons had a 7-0 shutout until the Chargers scored with 18 seconds left in the first half.  In the second half the Chargers slowed down the Triton offense, which still had nine different players score a goal, including senior goalie in the 11-1 victory.

Next up was Aliso Niguel.  The Tritons struggled to score for the first four minutes until junior Shay Heft got a fast break goal, and San Clemente maintained momentum to a 10-3 halftime lead.  The Tritons increased their lead to 15-5 halfway through the second half, as junior added four more goals for a game-high eight scores.  The Wolverines tried to claw back, but the San Clemente defense did not make it easy,  goalie Veronica Petrikas had a 54% save percentage, and the final score was 18-9.

The Tritons are undefeated at 7-0 in league play and celebrate Senior Night at home April 27th against Capistrano.  Playoff action begins Tuesday, May 2nd in San Clemente.  The opponent will be announced Saturday evening.
