San Clemente girls lacrosse lost to Foothill 11-7 on Thursday March 9th in a non-league game. The Tritons’ Shay Heft (junior) scored in the first minute, but then Foothill benefited from numerous shooting space penalties and had six unanswered goals over the next 12 minutes until Triton junior Jessica De Collibus found the back of the net for the Tritons. The Knights responded three minutes later, and at halftime the score was Foothill 7, San Clemente 2.
In the second half Heft and De Collibus got right to work, each scoring in the first three minutes. At minute 18 Heft scored again to close the gap 7-5, but 30 seconds later Foothill responded with a goal. Five minutes later De Collibus fired to keep the gap at two. The teams traded goals, and with 7 minutes remaining the score was 9-7. Then Foothill recovered and was able to hold on, adding a couple of insurance goals. Heft was four for four on goal attempts, and De Collibus was three for four.

Defense: Goalie Saves- senior Veronica Petrikas (7), Ground Balls- sophomore Tess Jonas (2), Interceptions- sophomore Catherine Yubeta (1), freshman Gabby Perez (1).
