Marina High School boys’ lacrosse players and Brandon Villescas (pictured above) and Eric Rymer have both committed to play lacrosse at the next level. Villescas and Rymer helped Marina team to a third place finish in the Sunset League last season. The Vikings’ season was highlighted by league wins over Los Alamitos and Huntington Beach.
Villescas, a Sunset All-League second-team midfielder, will play NCAA Division 3 lacrosse at Concordia University of Wisconsin. The Falcons compete in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference. They finished 12-5 overall and advanced to the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament championship, where they lost to Aurora College of Illinois 13-11. The Falcons are predicted to finish second in the MLC this year.
Rymer will play NCAA Division 3 lacrosse at Elmhust College in Elmhurst, Illinois. The Blue Jays compete in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. They finished 2016 with a 6-11 overall record (2-3 in the CCIW). They are predicted to finish third in the CCIW this year.
