Ruiz Earns Spot at Project 9.9

Santa Margarita ThumbSanta Margarita Catholic High School senior Hayden Ruiz will be attending the exclusive Project 9.9 training event October 12 – 14. The versatile and shifty middie/attacker (check out this split dodge!), who is committed to play at Boston University next year, will fill one of only 55 roster spots for the event. Ruiz will spend Columbus day weekend in suburban Baltimore with future D1 players from 16 states preparing for the rigors of D1 lacrosse. The coaching staff led by Mark Millon and Paul Rabil offers a combined resume of 20 years of advanced instructional experience, 3 Major League Lacrosse MVP’s, 2 World Game MVP’s, 2 Division 1 National Championships, NLL, MLL and World Championships. Rabil and Millon have teamed up with a passion to raise the quality and class of each top high school player in the nation. The goal of Project 9.9 is to harness the elite, fast-paced executed drills, conditioning and play only seen at the Division 1 and professional levels, hammered into the work ethic of the most elite high school player. Designed to be an extremely high drill intensive session, with high magnitude workouts, relying heavily on video instruction, and the mental aspect of being a dominant athlete, the schedule for the event is as follows:

Saturday, October 12th:
11:00: Check In
Player Rankings Posted
1:00-2:00: Introductions/Expectations and Nutritional discussions
2:30-4:30: Positional Field Work (All video analysis)
Offensive players will be testing out there ability
Defensive players will be testing out footwork and field IQ
Compete
5:30: Dinner
6:30-8:00: Positional Field work
9:00-10:30: Lacrosse chalk board meetings at Hotel
Players will receive their positional playbook

Sunday, October 13th:

7:30: Day 1 positional rankings will be posted
9:00-11:30: Combine Testing, Strength & Conditioning Session 1 with Jay Dyer
11:30-12:30: Lunch
1:00-1:30: Guest Speaker Lacrosse “Legend”
1:30-3:00: Positional Field Work
4:00-5:00: Weight Room Session with Jay Dyer
5:30-7:00: Group Dinner with all coaches and players
8:00-11:00: Individual meetings
Players will review individual film and progress
Discussion of college recruiting process

Monday, October 14th:

8:00-8:30: Playbook Test
9:00-9:30: Final Jay Dyer Strength & Conditioning Test
10:00-12:00: Final Field session: Announcement of player rankings
12:00-11:00: Player graduation
Receives workout packet with skill and achievement breakdown
2:00: Dismissal

Ruiz, a starter since his freshman year, has shined as both a midfielder and an attackman for the Eagles. He was named Midfielder of the Year as a freshman, Attackman of the Year, and Most Valuable Offensive Player last year. Ruiz plays club lacrosse for West Coast Starz 2014, the OC Kings, and DH Lacrosse.
