The eighth-ranked Royal girls lacrosse team wrapped up its regular season Friday with a 14-1 victory over crosstown rival Simi Valley, extending the squad’s winning streak to nine games.
Now the Highlanders (12-4) will await Sunday’s playoff schedule announcement and hope to carry their momentum into the postseason tournament, which begins Tuesday.
Seniors Dominique Surabian (5 goals, 2 assists) and Holly Hall (4g, 3a) led the Royal offense, which took a 7-1 halftime lead, then blanked the Pioneers in the second half. Senior Maddie Arrasmith (2g), freshman Ava Romerosa (1g, 3a), senior Megan Guardado (1g, 1a) and freshman Kourtney Carter (1g) completed the Highlanders’ scoring.
Royal hasn’t lost since dropping two games in the Birmingham Bash tournament March 17. The Highlanders finished that event with a win over Palisades, currently ranked No. 14, and haven’t lost since. Included in the streak are wins over ranked teams Chaminade, Oak Park (twice), Palisades and Birmingham.
