Royal girls lacrosse

The Royal Highlanders, who opened at No. 7 in the preseason US Lacrosse/MaxLaxLA coaches poll but had fallen to No. 13 last week, jumped back into the Top 10 after improving to 8-4 and stretching their winning streak to five games.

Included in Royal’s winning streak are victories over Top 20 teams Palisades, Birmingham and, last week, Oak Park. The Highlanders face another test Tuesday when they travel to No. 5 Chaminade.

Cate School improved to 8-0 and moved up two spots to No. 4 this week, nudging Chaminade and Oak Park back one spot each.

of Goleta improved to 9-3 and moved into the rankings at No. 20, bumping out Newbury Park.
