Round 2 Preview: CdM vs. Yorba Linda

#4 CDM vs #5 Yorba Linda II. Will the sequel match the drama of the original? The first one went to CDM 6-5 on a goal with 1:36 left in Q4, down to the wire. That one was a barn burner.

Since then YL has one loss to St Margret’s, while CDM had only two losses , to #3 Trabuco Hills and cross town rival Harbor. Lots of winning for both teams.

For the Sea Kings big Simon Hall has been en fuego of late. Nine goals in the last twogames. Shoots with plenty of velocity. Kyle Mix has had a hot hand as well with four goals in last two games and plenty of ground balls. He contributes more than what’s on the stat sheet. Freshman Logan Ip has been good all year, expect him to be a factor.

YL offense has had a few standouts that should be ready for the big game. Senior middie Zach Hardison has had an excellent career that he’d like to keep going. He is an offensive middie who can flat out dee up as well. Miles Delarosa had three goals vs Servite in round one. Tough kid will come to play, Tanner Fitch has been good all year on offense as well.

CDM’s Tate Jackson, a senior LSM will come to play, final run for him, he’ll be ready. George Busick was good vs MD, expect him to come right back for the Sea Kings.

YL defense has been very good too, allowing double digits only once this season. They are legit season thus far. A few guys who fly under the radar may need to step up if the Mustangs are to advance. Kyle Hunt Jr is talented and is a top cover guy. Nolan Henry has been very good and Trent Walker has played well at close and LSM all year.

Both goalies are legit. Kyle Cord ( Westminster) has had another excellent year. A mainstay of the program for four years, heshould play well. Jason Bohlinger has been excellent as well, the previously mentioned stats are what they are because he’s an excellent stopper. Goalies were great game two months ago when the Sea Kings and Mustangs last met.

FOGO’s gonna be a battle. Ryan Henry ( UMass) has been outstanding and Lucas Newton for CDM has plenty of talent, freshman has been good all year.

Expect this to be a battle for four quarters.
