Robinson Leads Woodbridge Past Northwood

Ben Robinson scored 4 goals including three in the final quarter to help Woodbridge High School outscore Northwood High School 15-11 in a Pacific Coast League shootout.  A six goal fourth quarter outburst busted open what had been a nip and tuck game up to that point.

Two first half goals by Ben Berkow and singletons from Ben Robinson, Alex Howard, and Joe Houston gave the Warriors a 5-4 lead at the intermission. Woodbridge tried to break open the game in the third quarter with 4 goals but the determined Timberwolves kept pace. Sam Turner, Jake Giglio, Ethan Lynch, and Berkow provided the third quarter scoring. The Warriors came out firing in the fourth quarter with Lynch ringing a mid range rocket off the pipe that found its way to the back of the net. Northwood got one back to make it 10-9 before unanswered goals from Robinson, Turner, and Houston really turned the tide in the Warriors’ favor. Robinson traded goals with the Timberwolves to get to the final score of 15-11.

 

Dom Budetti had another strong game between the pipes with 8 saves for the Warriors. Zach Kennedy (2 groundballs) and Liam McCarty were gamechangers at with their tenacity at LSM. The Woodbridge defense really clamped down in the the fourth quarter when it mattered most. The D was led by Ryan Francis (4 groundballs), John Schiazzano (3 groundballs), Sean Leavey (2 groundballs).
