Only one first-round matchup is a rematch of a regular season game. Marmonte League teams Westlake and Newbury Park split their meetings this season, each winning on the other’s home field.

The 16-team bracket left no room for teams like Mira Costa (11-6), which finished second in the Bay League and No. 14 in the final coaches poll, or San Marcos (12-2), which won the Channel League and finished No. 18 in the coaches poll.

Second-round games will be played Thursday at the home fields of the higher seeds.
