Fresh off a 10-8 victory over then-No. 1 Redondo Union, Palos Verdes received 15 of 17 first-place votes and moved into the No. 1 position in the MaxLaxLA girls lacrosse coaches poll.

Redondo (4-1), the two-time defending LA champion, slipped to No. 2 in the poll, with Westlake (5-1) moving down to No. 3. The Warriors had a busy week, beating Marlborough, then finishing off its game against St. Margaret’s — suspended by weather a week earlier — with a victory, then losing in overtime to Santa Margarita Catholic.

The next 11 spots in the poll were unchanged, with the next movement coming at No. 15, where Mira Costa moved up two spots to that position. Marlborough also moved up a spot to No. 17. Those two bumped Birmingham and Royal back. At the bottom of the Top 20, Simi Valley moved up one, pushing Thousand Oaks back to No. 20.
